These breeders are not just selling puppies but are committed to the health and integrity of the breed. Do not be fooled by "breeders" who say parent clubs are not important. They are very important because they are where people learn.
Even if you want "just a pet" you want that pet to be the best it can be. You get that by dealing with Clumber Spaniel breeders who actively participate in conformation, hunting and/or obedience (and not just say they plan to participate next year), who can explain in detail why they bred this male with that female (and not just that they are both “nice”) and who do not think health testing means simply taking the parents and puppies to the local Vet but who understand the importance of specialists to check hips and elbows (OFA), eyes (CERF) and certain genetic conditions (e.g. PDP1).
Be patient. Take your time and you will find a responsible, ethical breeder and a happy, healthy puppy.
